Background
Kai's mother was a Reaper. He heavily looked up to her, and as such he became a Reaper himself. The denim jacket that he never takes off is a gift from his mother,
who passed away shortly after him joining. He quickly realized that the job was not the job he fantasized as a kid, and quickly became depressed. Despite that, he raised within
the ranks quickly, and became a Lord Reaper. He became the mentor to Bone, Delilah, and Parker shortly after. He has a mysterious past with Achilles that he refuses to discuss.
True Backstory (Spoilers)
Kai Coulsins was born to a semi-famous local Lord Reaper in the Chesapeake Agency. He grew up looking up to his mother and wanting to be like her one day. For most of his life, he spent his free time outside of school learning how to fight, strategies, and other things he knew his mother used as a Reaper. Once he turned 18, Kai joined the Chesapeake Agency as a Reaper, his dream job. Once he joined the Agency, his mother gave him the parka he wears currently as a welcome gift. However, she died shortly after he joined, which sent him into a downward spiral. He spent most his time as a Reaper shortly after his mother dying doing missions and tons of paperwork to distract himself. He felt, and still feels, extremely guilty about this since he feels that he failed his mother by hating being a Reaper. When he was about 20, however, Achilles Fanti transferred over to the Chesapeake Agency. The two started dating almost immediately after they met, with Achilles convincing Kai to go on “missions” in New York City. They dated for 4 years until about 2020, which was around the time they both became Lord Reapers. The main reason for the break-up was due to Kai looking after Bone and Delilah along with his duties as a Lord Reaper, which led to him not spending time with Achilles, along with Achilles’ suspicious behavior when in the city. His mental health started to decline even more after becoming a Lord Reaper due to having obscene amounts of paperwork and even more duties than before, but due to the standing of the Agency and his status, Kai is unable to officially leave his job, leaving him in a gradual decrease of health.
Personality
Kai is a very gruff, monotone man. He's very passionate about what he sets his mind to, for better or for worse. If he does not care about the task, he will put in minimal
effort. He tends to put his own needs above others.
