Rina was born to Hana Nereze, but she was adopted by a magician's family instead after realizing that she was the Defender. In her teens, Rina decides that she wants to become an adventurer, specifically searching out magical artifacts and weapons. She decides that her first adventure will be to find and study the Defender's weapon.
Rina gets easily attached to her goals and dreams, making her very committed to what she plans to do. She is very energetic, even if that means that she ends up making someone uncomfortable in the process. Despite this, she tends to be kind to everyone. She also enjoys teasing someone if given the chance.
Rina is also very selfish. Due to her being heavily committed to her dreams, she can often push others out of the way in order to achieve her goal. She is often unaware of this, but if told tries to remedy it to the best of her ability.
Her and Melania are very close friends, with the two of them having grown up together. Rina is very encouraging of Melania and loves to travel with her. After the two of them gain the memories of Reid and Madoc, however, the two grow further apart. Rina actively tries to keep Melania grounded when Melania feels urges to begin the Cataclysm. Due to finding out that she is the Defender, Rina gains a sense of urgency towards killing Melania, which she actively tries to fight.

Rina's lightning starts out yellow/orange, then shifts to blue when she learns Constellation, and later to pure white when she learns Pure Light.
Rina primarily uses Lightning Magic. She learns Superspeed from Nirvana, and tends to use that in combat. She also uses Energy Magic in conjunction with Superspeed to create platforms. She prefers to fight using her lightning rather than her swords.
Once her Solar Magic starts to manifest, Rina focuses on Light Magic. She trains her Fire Magic a minimal amount. Her Light Magic is focused on creating light. She also becomes proficient in Banish during her time at the College of Magic.
She later learns Star Magic from Asterix. She doesn't use Star Magic that often, but she ends up figuring out how to use Constellation and ends up combining Lightning Magic with it.
Sarathiel ends up teaching her Pure Light. She tries to avoid using the transformation unless necessary. Her skin starts to gain stars at this point.
