Genuinely such an innovative game. The fact that this was only 2 years prior to MGS2 is insane. The opening of the game is probably the best in the series. FOXHOUND is such a cool group of villains, too. They're probably my favorite in the series. The game is also definitely a product of its time. A lot of the sections happen to be really precise or hard for no reason, but the game is also so old that there's a ton of tutorials online. A lot of the boss fights are really fun, too. The Gray Fox fight and the Psycho Mantis fight especially take advantage of the gameplay and display in such a way that it's really impressive that the first game in the Solid series has fights like that. Even though I started with MGSV, it would be perfectly fine to start with MGS purely because of how well it's made for an almost 30-year-old game.
